The Support Services Division consists of several service areas which include Records and Information Services, Information Systems and Property and Evidence. This division deploys data services through a closed law-enforcement-only wide area data network. This network connection is protected by security firewalls from other county agencies, other law enforcement agencies and the public.

In addition, Support Services maintains and supports the mainframe computer which was relocated from the County Data Center to the Sheriff's Brad Gates building. Sheriff's staff support this law-enforcement-only function.

Captain David Wilson is the Division Commander of the Support Services Division. Captain Wilson has been a member of the Orange County Sheriff's Department since March of 1982. After working in the Central Men's Jail, he transferred to Patrol where he worked one year in North, two and a half years in Villa Park, and four years in Stanton. Captain Wilson was a Basic Academy Tactical Officer for three years before promoting to Investigator. After working in Homicide for two years, and helping establish the CLUE team, Captain Wilson promoted to Sergeant in 1998 and returned to the Central Men's Jail.

Captain Wilson transferred within a year to become the first Sergeant in Research and Development. He transferred to Community Programs where he remained until promoting to Lieutenant in 2002. Captain Wilson was assigned as Watch Commander for one and a half years and then transferred to Professional Standards for another one and a half years.
Upon his promotion to Captain, he was assigned as the first Division Commander for the Community Services Division, a restructured division comprised of Reserves, Chaplains, Community Programs, Explorers and Senior Volunteers. Prior to his current assignment Captain Wilson served as the Theo Lacy Facility Commander.

Captain Wilson was born and raised in Orange County. He has lived with his wife and three children in Yorba Linda since 1990. He is active in coaching youth soccer and hockey, and enjoys outdoor recreation with his family and friends. They are especially fond of their time spent boating and water skiing together. Captain Wilson holds a BA in Public Administration from National University, and a MS from CSU Dominguez Hills in Behavioral Science.
